Nomadic Tunes is a unique ensemble of professional Mongolian musicians and performers based in the UK, dedicated to sharing the rich cultural heritage of Mongolia with audiences across Britain. Through mesmerising throat singing, the haunting sounds of the horsehead fiddle (morin khuur), traditional flute and percussion, the group evokes the vast steppes, open skies and ancient nomadic traditions of their homeland. Their captivating performances blend exceptional musicianship and dance with deep cultural roots, transporting audiences on an unforgettable musical journey into the heart of Mongolian culture. Throughout the concert, the musicians will bring their performances to life by sharing the stories, traditions and cultural heritage behind the music, songs and dances they perform, offering a fascinating insight into nomadic life.
The ensemble brings together four accomplished musicians and performers, each contributing their own expertise and artistry to create a rich and authentic celebration of Mongolia’s musical heritage. The band will also be joined by special guests traditional dancer B. Dashmaa and long-song singer D. Ganbayar.
N. Bat-Erdene
An accomplished throat singer, morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) player and traditional praise singer from western Mongolia, Bat-Erdene comes from a long line of hereditary throat singers. He has performed internationally, reached the semi-finals of Poland’s Got Talent, and is dedicated to preserving and teaching Mongolia’s traditional musical heritage.
M. Munkhzorigt
A professionally trained traditional dancer and musician, Munkhzorigt is renowned for his dynamic performances on stage and in the circus arts. He is also a key organiser of Mongolian cultural events in the UK and performs both traditional dance and tovshuur (lute).
S. Nyamdavaa
A professional flautist and sound engineer, Nyamdavaa specialises in traditional Mongolian flute music using the circular breathing technique. He also performs on the morin khuur and is responsible for the ensemble’s musical arrangements and sound production.
D. Tserenbat
Founder, manager and percussionist of Nomadic Tunes, Tserenbat brought the ensemble together in 2013. His vision and leadership have helped establish the group as one of the UK’s leading promoters of Mongolian traditional music and culture.
Doors open at 6:30pm. A 20‑minute interval is scheduled mid‑event, with the bar open for drinks before the performance and during the break.
